JOHANNESBURG: As part of the final stages of preparation ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 being held in South Africa in February next year, Cricket South Africa is organising a Women’s T20 International (T20I) tri-series with India and the West Indies in East London between 19 January – 02 February 2023.
All matches will be played at the Buffalo Park Cricket Stadium in a contest featuring World Cup hosts, South Africa, along with the 2016 T20 world champions in the West Windies, and India, the runners-up of the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup.
The three teams will play two T20I encounters against each side in a battle for a place in the Tri-Series final, before the nations switch to World Cup mode with the tournament kicking off from 10 – 26 February in Cape Town, Paarl and Gqeberha.
South Africa’s T20 World Cup opponents in Group A include Sri Lanka, New Zealand as well as Bangladesh and five-time champions, Australia.
