MUMBAI: Disney Star has elevated Harry Griffith to head – Rights Acquisition & Syndication (Sports).
In his “new” role, which has been in place since November 2021, Griffith has taken over additional responsibilities of rights acquisition and key licensor relationships, in addition to his current responsibility of heading global syndication and sales for sports.
Griffith, who has been a part of the sports team since July 2015, operating out of Dubai, joined the media major as senior vice president and head of Acquisition & Syndication, Disney / Star Sports.
He was initially in international sales and proceeded to take on global syndication of sports rights. Over the last year, Griffith has managed tough negotiations in the Middle East and facilitated rights deal renewals across the world.
In his career span of 15-odd years in the media, sports, and entertainment industry, Griffith has worked with Eurosport and IMG Media. It was in IMG Media, where he worked for eight years, that he cut his teeth in the profession.
Griffith has expertise in TV/Digital media rights, ad sales solutions, rights acquisition, syndication, sponsorship, digital, monetisation and business development for the world’s leading rights owners, agencies and broadcasters in multiple territories.
