Abhishek Sharma, Axar Patel in NADA testing pool for 2026 2nd quarter

CRICKETERS ABHISHEK SHARMA and Axar Patel have been included in the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) Registered Testing Pool (RTP) for the second quarter of 2026, in a move that reflects increased scrutiny and strengthening of anti-doping measures in Indian sport.

They replace Smriti Mandhana and Shreyas Iyer in the updated roster. The RTP now comprises 348 athletes across disciplines, including 14 cricketers.

Both players were part of India’s recent T20 World Cup-winning squad, underlining their growing importance in the national setup. The RTP is a select group of elite athletes monitored closely under anti-doping regulations.

Key Requirements for RTP Athletes include mandatory submission of daily whereabouts information, availability for out-of-competition testing at any time, and compliance within a designated daily testing window. Failure to comply carries strict consequences, and three missed filings or tests equals a doping violation, even without a positive test.
