Ad rates surge for T20 WC final, ₹50L for 10 secs

ADVERTISING RATES for the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 between the India national cricket team and the New Zealand national cricket team saw a sharp rise ahead of the title clash. JioStar, the official media rights holder for the International Cricket Council (ICC), reportedly charged Rs 50 lakh for a 10-second advertising slot during the final, according to a report by Economic Times. India eventually went on to win the match.

Reports suggest that JioStar raised advertising rates as the available inventory for the final was extremely limited, while viewership throughout the tournament remained exceptionally strong. With only a handful of slots remaining before the game, advertisers were willing to pay a premium to secure visibility during the live broadcast.

Industry sources also indicate that the India–New Zealand final could rank among the most expensive cricket broadcasts for advertisers in recent years. Major brands from sectors such as consumer goods, smartphones, fintech and automobiles reportedly competed for the remaining ad placements.

Demand from advertisers was further fuelled by the massive viewership recorded during the semi-final between India and the England national cricket team, which set digital viewership records. That milestone was subsequently surpassed by the final itself, underlining the tournament’s audience reach.
