adidas announces brand partnership with Deepika Padukone

NEW DELHI: adidas Thursday announced a brand partnership with Deepika Padukone as a brand ambassador, releasing a film to announce the association. The sportswear giant further said the Hindi film A lister is joining adidas’ roster of women athletes and partners around the globe.

The brand aims to partner with Padukone and create a common commitment towards fitness; both physical and emotional. With this adidas wants to democratise and diversify sport for women, an official release stated. 

Confirming the association, Padukone tweeted on her official Twitter handle: “I am absolutely honoured and delightful to be partnering with one of the world’s most iconic brand’s- Adidas -“

Sunil Gupta, senior director, Brand adidas, India, stated: “As a global youth icon and someone who champions mental well-being and personal betterment, Deepika fits in beautifully with the brand’s ambition of creating positive change through sports and movement. We are thrilled to have Deepika join the adidas family and together we hope to inspire more women to see and realize their possibilities.” 

“Being an athlete and playing sport has played a tremendous role in shaping my personality and helping me become the person I am today. It has taught me values that no other life experience could have. Today, fitness, both physical and emotional, are an integral part of my lifestyle. I am absolutely honoured and delighted to be partnering with one of the world’s most iconic brands, adidas,” said Padukone.

With the adidas association, Padukone adds one more iconic international brand to her portfolio. In February, American denim brand Levi’s announced the appointment of the actor as its global brand ambassador. The denim brand had said then the association would help attract a new generation of women consumers as it looked to expand the women’s wear category.
