The Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB) has nominated Jacques van Zuydam to become its next chairman, signalling a focus on leadership continuity as Dutch cricket enters a new phase of organisational and commercial development.
Van Zuydam, who has been serving as acting chairman following the departure of the previous president and previously held the role of treasurer, is expected to formally assume the position subject to approval at the KNCB’s General Meeting.
Van Zuydam has played a central role in the KNCB’s leadership over the past year, overseeing governance matters during a period of transition while also managing the board’s financial portfolio. His nomination reflects the board’s preference for stability as the organisation continues implementing governance reforms and seeks to build on recent progress both on and off the field.
Alongside the chairman’s appointment, the KNCB has begun the process of identifying a new treasurer to succeed Van Zuydam. Filling the finance portfolio has become a priority as the board looks to maintain strong financial oversight while supporting the continued professionalisation of Dutch cricket.
The leadership transition comes during an important period for the KNCB. Dutch cricket has enjoyed sustained success on the international stage in recent years, with the men’s team regularly qualifying for ICC global events, while the governing body has focused on expanding grassroots participation, strengthening domestic competitions and improving its organisational structure. Earlier this year, the association also appointed Huib van Walsem as its new Chief Executive Officer to lead day-to-day operations and drive the next phase of strategic growth.
Van Zuydam brings significant corporate experience to the role, having built a career in international finance and business leadership. Within the KNCB, he has been closely involved in governance, financial planning and long-term strategic initiatives, making him a natural choice to provide continuity at board level.
