NEW DELHI: Adille Sumariwalla, the Athletics Federation of India president, will be contesting for one of the four vice-president posts in the IAAF, during the world governing body’s 52nd Congress in Doha in September, 2019.
He will be one of the 11 candidates in the fray for the four posts, one of which has to mandatorily be occupied by a female member. The IAAF Executive Board will consist of the four elected members, three professional employees, and the president.
Sumariwalla is a member of the IAAF council, and has also filed for contesting the post of an individual council member during the Congress which will be held on September 25 and 26 before the World Championships. Forty candidates are contesting for the 13 council member posts.
