NEW DELHI: I-League champions Aizawl FC, and Bengaluru FC, which has moved up to the ranks of the Indian Super League, have secured the AFC license for this season.
This follows the meeting of the All India Football Federation’s club licensing committee – “first instance body” – here Monday to evaluate and decide the applications made by license applicants for AFC Club Competitions 2017-18.
Six other clubs, namely, Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Shillong Lajong FC, Churchill Brothers, Chennai City FC and Minerva Punjab FC, had also applied for the AFC Licenses, but failed to pass muster.
The committee will now convene another meeting to decide the results of the applications made by the same clubs for national licenses to play national club competitions in 2017-18.
