AIR to relay radio commentary of India tour to Australia

MUMBAI: Public service broadcaster All India Radio has secured permission from Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN), the India territory media rights holder for international cricket in Australia, for ball-by-ball commentary of the upcoming blockbuster series between hosts Australia and India.

AIR confirmed the development, posting on its official Twitter handle: “@akashvanisports
#AUSvIND Ball by ball All India Radio commentary will be available on FM Rainbow Channels, Digital Radio Transmitters (DRM), FM Local Radio Stations (LRS) & Additional FM Transmitters.”

India will be playing four Tests, three Twenty20 internationals and three ODIs on their tour to Australia.

Interestingly, pubcaster Prasar Bharati’s CEO Shashi Shekhar has confirmed to Mumbai Mirror that national broadcaster Doordarshan will also be telecasting the “white ball” games (T20Is and ODIs). “We have got radio rights for the series and AIR will be broadcasting all the matches. DD will show the white ball games,” Shekhar told Mirror.
