Alcis wins S Asia rights to FIFA WC 2018 merchandise

MUMBAI: Indian athlete sportswear and leisurewear maker Alcis Sports has won the South Asia rights to exclusively manufacture and distribute FIFA merchandise related to the the upcoming 2018 World Cup.

Alcis Sports managing director Roshan Baid told Economic Times that besides India, his comapny has exclusive rights to sell and distribute FIFA merchandise in Sri Lanka, Nepal and Pakistan. 

The ‘affordably-priced’ licensed apparel range will retail country-specific merchandise including from Brazil, Germany, England and Spain, he told the business daily. 

“We will leverage Paragon Apparels for backend manufacturing, which we believe is a core strength, along with new-age technology and styling,” Baid said. 

Alcis Sports is a flagship entity promoted by casual and sportswear maker Paragon Apparel, which manufactures apparel for running, training and sports. 

A Morgan Stanley report estimates that the athletic wear industry could add $83 billion in sales by 2020, with Asia being the biggest contributor to athletic-wear. 

Presently, the US is the world’s biggest market valued at $97 billion, and the report tips markets in Asia and Latin America to grow at the maximum potential.
