Alongside MSD’s intl retirement, a major investment

MUMBAI: Even as India great Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket via Instagram on Saturday, indications of how his “second innings” will pan out for the player from Ranchi are already in evidence.

India’s erstwhile Captain Cool has become a stakeholder in Neo Global. The fertilizer manufacturing company. The company has two products in the market already and plans to increase the number to 15. “Dhoni will be associated in a big way and I will be in the UAE in September to finalise talks with him about this and other matters. He has tested the organic fertilizer in his farmhouse,” Mihir Diwakar, who manages the cricketing legend, told New Indian Express.

New Global has factories in Mumbai and Bhavnagar in Gujarat, other than an office in New Delhi. Dhoni seems to be impressed with what he has seen. “Dhoni is happy with the product and has acquired a big stake. This will be launched formally after the IPL,” added Diwakar.

The 39-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman retirement announcement, posted on his Instagram account with calculated intent on India’s Independence Day, August 15th, read: “Thanks a lot for your love and support throughout. From 1929 hours consider me as retired.”

The news came as he joined his Chennai Super Kings teammates ahead of next month’s Indian Premier League tournament which will be held in the United Arab Emirates because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dhoni, who played in 90 tests, 350 one-day internationals and 98 Twenty20s for his country, was dropped from India’s list of 27 centrally contracted players in January.
