Bajaj exits Punjab FC after RoundGlass completes buyout

ROUNDGLASS SPORTS Private Limited is now reportedly the sole owner of I-League outfit Punjab Football Club (earlier Minerva Punjab FC) after buying out the 50% stake that is currently with original promoters Ranjit Bajaj and his spouse Henna Singh.  

Bajaj and Ms Singh have resigned as the directors of Punjab FC, Goal reports. 

As per the football website, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has been intimated of their resignation.

It was in end-July 2019 that Minerva Punjab FC, the 2017-18 I-League champions, announced a 50-50 merger with RoundGlass Sports, a Punjab-based company focused on grassroots development of football. Post the Round Glass investment, Minerva Punjab was rebranded as Punjab FC. 

Founded in 2014, RoundGlass Sports is a wholly owned subsidiary of RoundGlass, a Seattle-based venture capital firm which also has its offices in India, including in Mohali.

RoundGlass is a venture capital firm that invests in the digital healthcare and wellness sectors. It was founded in 2014 by Gurpreet ‘Sunny’ Singh. He is also the CEO of Edifecs, a company providing integrated solutions for the healthcare ecosystem. He has also established SabTera, which works with under-resourced communities to provide schooling for children and sustainable employment for women.

RoundGlass is currently working in 90 villages in Punjab and have implemented several initiatives including building football academies, installing solar panels, and establishing proper waste management mechanisms. 

In RoundGlass Sports’ football academies, boys and girls between the age group of six to 14 hone their skills across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.
