The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) apex council is set to convene on Wednesday. What is NOT on the agenda among the eight items listed is any discussion about a new secretary to succeed Jay Shah.
Shah, who was unanimously elected as the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman, will continue as BCCI secretary during the upcoming 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled to take place in Bengaluru.
Shah takes up his new position at the ICC on December 1.
BCCI to address payment dispute with BYJU’S
The Apex Council meeting will also address the BCCI’s ongoing payment dispute with its former title sponsor, BYJU’S.
The edtech firm terminated its sponsorship agreement with the cricket board in March last year.
The controversy stems from unpaid dues for the period between October 2022 and March 2023, despite payments being made until September 2022 under a jersey sponsorship deal first signed in March 2019.
Inauguration of new National Cricket Academy
The apex council’s agenda also includes discussions about the inauguration of the new National Cricket Academy (NCA), located in Bengaluru.
The NCA has been operating from the M Chinnaswamy stadium premises for over two decades.
Other items on the agenda include approval for renovation work at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai and progress report on North East development project.
