MUMBAI: The ethics officer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a notice to Rupa Gurunath, daughter of Tamil Nadu cricket czar N Srinivasan and president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), in response to a complaint of conflict of interest that has been made regarding her position as head of the TNCA.
The notice has been served in the wake of a complaint filed by Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) life member Sanjeev Gupta.

Ms Gurunath has been asked to submit a written response by December 24.
In his complaint, filed on November 23, Gupta alleged that Ms Gurunath, apart from being the TNCA president, is also a director at India Cements Limited, the parent company that owns IPL team Chennai Super Kings, “giving rise to an instance of Conflict of Interest”.
In a preliminary order passed on December 8, accessed by The Hindu, Justice Jain noted: “Since a prima facie case is made out in the complaint, let notice be issued to Ms Rupa Gurunath and the BCCI to file their written response to the complaint, on or before December 24.”
The notice issued to Rupa and the BCCI by Justice Jain specifies that a failure to respond by December 24 will result in the ethics officer proceeding “in your absence, without giving any further opportunity of filing a response to the Complaint, to you”.
A copy of the notice was sent to the BCCI, asking the board to respond as well.
