LONDON: Adherence to basic courtesies has not been the BCCI’s strong suit in the recent past (read that as post 2008 after the IPL launched to super bling success). Only and only because of its money power has the Indian cricket board got away with it. And keeping the “flag flying” on that front are the Team India prima donnas.
It has come to such a sorry state of affairs that the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the World Cup management team has penned a letter to the BCCI drawing its attention to the Indian team management’s repeated failure to abide by the set protocol and agreement laid out for the World Cup.
The letter specifically mentions how, despite the stated agreement, Indian players remained absent from the media zone.
After India clashed with New Zealand during its first warm-up match, the Indian team management was supposed to send three of its players to the media zone. No surprises for guessing that no player turned up.
Meanwhile, the BCCI has a different take on the matter. The board maintains that the ICC’s charge is incorrect. Based on what reasoning? Because the BCCI says so.
