MUMBAI: The BCCI has reportedly locked in the dates for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, which will definitely be hosted in India (barring another pandemic crisis befalling the country).
As per Cricbuzz, the tournament will kick off from April 02, 2022 in Chennai, with the final expected to be on Sunday, June 05.
With two teams being added (BCCI is still dilly-dallying on signing the franchise agreement with CVC Capital Partners, which won the rights to the Ahmedabad team, so there is still speculation swirling around who will finally be declared the owner of one of said two teams) from the 2022 season, 74 games over 60 days are what fans can look forward to.
Speaking of CVC Capital Partners and the question of “will it, won’t it finally be given the keys” to the Ahmedabad franchise, if certain reports are to be believed, then the IPL 2022 mega auction will take place on Sunday, 19 December. Which means that official word on the Ahmedabad franchise ownership should be in sooner rather than later.
