MUMBAI: The two new franchises that will be a part of the ten-team Indian Premier League from the 2022 edition on. will be announced on October 25.
In a media release on Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India stated: “The IPL Media Rights tender for the cycle 2023-2027 will be released immediately after the appointment of two new IPL teams which is scheduled to be announced on 25th October 2021.”
While there appear to be quite a few potential (emphasis ours) owners for the new IPL teams, industry expectations are that the Adani Group will win the Ahmedabad (Narendra Modi Stadium) franchise while the RPG Sanjeev Goenka group will take Lucknow (Ekana Stadium), when “the envelopes are unsealed” on October 25.
The IPL Media Rights tender for the cycle 2023-2027 will be released immediately after the appointment of two new IPL teams.
