Bengaluru FC players agree for pay cut

BENGALURU FC’S PLAYERS have agreed to a reduction in their salaries for the curtailed Indian Super League (ISL) season, which is set to resume on 14 February, club owner Parth Jindal confirmed in a post on X.

Jindal said the club’s management held open and honest discussions with the entire first-team squad on how best to navigate the challenges currently facing the league. The ISL, which has been on hold for over four months, will return in a shortened format from mid-February.

“I am grateful to all the first team players who have agreed to reduce their remuneration during this phase. Without a doubt, this was one of the toughest decisions we have had to make as a club, and I truly appreciate that the players have made this sacrifice in the best interests of the club and the sport,” he added.

Last month, Jindal had publicly highlighted the need for voluntary pay cuts, urging players to “make sacrifices” in light of the financial strain clubs are expected to bear in order to participate in the delayed season.

Bengaluru FC’s squad includes several high-profile names, notably Indian football icon Sunil Chhetri and marquee goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.
