The Basketball Federation of India has signed a 4-year sponsorship deal with Vector X that is reportedly worth Rs 4 crore ($480,000) per year.
The deal, which was effective reportedly from March 2024, designates Vector X as the Official Ball, Apparel, Bags and Footwear Partner of BFI.
Per ekalavyas.com, Vector X will now be the main supplier for all national basketball tournaments and camps. This includes both 5X5 & 3X3 formats of the game.
“This deal underscores Vector X’s strategic offer and commitment to support grassroots basketball,” the website quotes Vikas Gupta, MD Soccer International Pvt Ltd, the parent company behind the ‘Vector X’ brand, as having said.
According to ekalavyas.com, the deal is worth over Rs 4 crore per year, which includes a kit bag for 4,000 players each year, besides a royalty component. The kit bag, co-sponsored by BFI, will carry a ball, shoes, two sets of jerseys, lowers and a polo t-shirt.
It bears noting further that Soccer International is also the exclusive distributor and licensee for global basketball brand SPALDING in India.
“Basketball is an undersold category in India with potential to grow. We hope to be a collaborator with BFI and support its efforts in developing and growing the game, by being a ‘backend support system’ to develop all kinds of products,” ekalavyas quotes Baljinder Pal Singh, head of Brand Marketing, Soccer International, as having said.
