CryptoDATA RNF team removed from 2024 MotoGP line-up

The MotoGP Selection Committee, comprising members of FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports, announced Monday that the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team have been removed from the list of teams that will make up the grid for the 2024 season.

“Repeated infractions and breaches of the Participation Agreement affecting the public image of MotoGP have obliged this decision,” the selection committee declared.

There have been multiple media reports (denied by CryptoDATA) that “bills have been unpaid by the team”.

The committee will now be “reviewing applications for a new independent team, using Aprilia machinery, to join the MotoGP class grid for 2024”.

The developments follow a press conference the CryptoDATA RNF team held on Saturday night, a press statement released on Saturday evening, and an interview with German publication Speedweek on Sunday night asserting that the attempts to find an amicable resolution were on track.

Ovidiu Toma, CEO of CryptoDATA, had said to SportTV: “Our contract is up to 2026 and it’s valid. We are still committed to be here up to 2026.”

It bears noting that it was just last year (in November 2022) that CryptoDATA Tech became the majority shareholder of the RNF MotoGP Team.
