Who would have imagined it. As India and Australia faced off in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Disney+ Hotstar, which is livestreaming the match, went blank.
Not surprisingly, cricket fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration.
Disney+ Hotstar immediately put out a statement claiming that the service is witnessing “unforeseen technical issues across their apps and web”. And assured viewers that the issue “will be resolved soon”.
So what was said “technical issue”? It was for the most mundane of reasons. And it was Twitter user Atul Karmarkar who spilled the beans. The domain name of the streaming giant had expired. A small matter that got “missed in the internal traffic” as it were.
Atul Karmarkar tweeted: “LOL, no wonder the entire #Hotstar website is down – their domain expired and they’ve just renewed it a while ago ? Someone is gonna get ? for this #INDvsAUS #INDvAUS”
