Dream11 pivots to creator-led watch-along streams

DREAM SPORTS on Thursday introduced an overhauled version of Dream11, transforming it from a fantasy sports platform into a creator-driven destination for fans.

Describing it as “a second-screen sports entertainment platform that amplifies live sports – with creator-led watch-alongs, real-time reactions, fan banter, and free-to-play fantasy that keeps every moment alive,” the company announced the update in a LinkedIn post.

The launch comes a little over three months after Dream11 suspended all paid contests, which previously accounted for 95% of its revenue and the entirety of its profits. The suspension followed new online gaming regulations prohibiting money games where users deposit funds with the expectation of potential winnings.

The revamped Dream11 app enables users to follow matches via livestreams hosted by prominent creators, who offer quick insights, match statistics, and breakdowns of key moments. Viewers can interact with streamers through live chats and reactions.

Dream Sports co-founder Harsh Jain said the platform has already onboarded 25 creators, with more expected to join. The company has also refreshed its loyalty programme, rebranding it as DreamBucks. Users can earn DreamBucks by watching livestreams and spend them on features such as creator shout-outs or pinned messages during streams. Creators will receive the majority of revenues, with Dream11 taking a smaller share, Jain added.

As of September, Dream11 reported 10 million daily active users and more than 250 million total users.

The new creator-centric approach is expected to help Dream11 combat the decline in user engagement during live matches. By hosting in-match conversations on the platform, Dream11 aims to keep fans active throughout the entire fixture. Users can assemble their fantasy teams before kick-off and then move seamlessly into creator-led watch-along streams.
