DSport biz head puts in papers

MUMBAI: TS Panesar, business head of Discovery Communications branded sports channel DSport, has resigned. 

Panesar, who joined as head of DSport in July 2017, is currently serving his notice period and will be with the niche sports channel till the end of the month, Television Post reports.

As DSport head, Panesar was responsible for content acquisition and monetisation. 

In May, Discovery had appointed Aidem as the ad monetisation agency for DSport in India.

Prior to DSport, Panesar was CEO of Hathway Cable & Datacom’s Video Business for two years. He joined the cable TV company from Star India where he was executive vice president for distribition.

Coming from a broadcast background and spending 20 years in the industry, Panesar played a big role in making the cable TV operations process-driven and launched value-added services (VAS) to fuel Hathway’s future growth.

An online portal for local cable operators (LCOs), was launched to empower them to increase their revenues, reduce operational costs and introduce transparencies.

Apart from Hathway and Star, Panesar had a long stint at Star Sports (formerly ESPN Star Sports) having spent more than 17 years with the sports network.
