NEW DELHI: Yawn! Another of those toothless notices that are all about form but of no substance. At least that is this website’s considered view.
The recently elected Indian cricket board vice-president Rajeev Shukla has been asked by Justice (Rtd) DK Jain, Ethics Officer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), to reply to a complaint received from (who else but) Indore-based activist Sanjeev Gupta.
“A complaint has been received by the Ethics Officer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (for short the BCCI) from Mr Sanjeev Gupta, under Rule 39(2)(b) of the Rules and Regulations of the BCCI, regarding certain acts, allegedly constituting as ‘conflict of interest’ against Mr Rajeev Shukla,” a note sent by Gupta (and duly shared), dated January 14, states.
“A complaint has been received by the Ethics Officer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (for short the BCCI) from Mr Sanjeev Gupta, under Rule 39(2)(b) of the Rules and Regulations of the BCCI, regarding certain acts, allegedly constituting as ‘conflict of interest’ against Mr Rajeev Shukla,” reads a missive from Justice Jain, dated January 14 (and duly made public).
“Before proceeding further on the Complaint, I deem it necessary to ascertain the stand of the BCCI and the person complained against Mr Rajeev Shukla on the said complaint. Accordingly, the BCCI and Mr Rajeev Shukla are called upon to file their written response to the complaint, within a period of two weeks from today, before the Ethics Officer, BCCI. Further orders in the matter shall be passed thereafter,” the missive further reads.
Gupta, “a serial complainanat who is however accepting that his complaints have had zero results”, is a former life member of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association.
