Ex-Indian midfielder Renedy Singh appointed as Neroca FC manager

IMPHAL: Former Indian international football player Renedy Singh was on Wedensday named as I-League club Neroca FC’s head coach in place of Spain’s Manuel Retamero Fraile, following the Northeastern club’s disappointing performance in the recently concluded season, in which it finished a lowly sixth with 26 points from 20 matches.

The 39-year-old Renedy has had 59 appearances for the Indian national team from 1998 to 2011, being its captain on a few occasions as well. After becoming an AFC A License holder, he took up the role of assistant coach of the Indian Super League side FC Pune City in the 2015-16 season.

“It is an honour to be the head coach of Neroca FC. Hoping I could help the team implement my own philosophy and use my own style, which is going to be important here at Neroca. Glad to sign for Neroca FC. Looking to work with the players,” Renedy was quoted as saying to PTI.
