FANCODE has renewed its broadcast partnership with Formula 1 under a new three-year agreement, extending its rights through to the end of the 2028 season. Building on a successful two-year collaboration, the deal further strengthens FanCode’s position as the home of Formula 1 in India.
As part of the expanded partnership, fans will now be able to subscribe to F1 TV Pro and F1 TV Premium directly via the FanCode platform, unlocking seamless access to Formula 1’s extensive content library. This integration gives viewers greater choice and flexibility, allowing them to experience the sport in a way that best suits their preferences.
Under the renewed agreement, FanCode will continue to offer comprehensive coverage of every race weekend, including all practice sessions, qualifying, races and Sprint events throughout the season.
To deepen fan engagement, FanCode has also introduced regional commentary in Hindi and Tamil, launched a dedicated motorsports podcast titled Gearbox featuring leading Indian creators, and partnered with F1 fan communities to curate special screening events across the country.
Formula 1’s popularity in India has grown rapidly in recent years, particularly among Gen Z and female audiences. According to Nielsen, India is now home to 79 million Formula 1 fans, with fandom increasing by 41 per cent since 2022, making it one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. Adding to the momentum, the recently released F1 film starring Brad Pitt became the highest-grossing Hollywood release in India, according to the media release.
FanCode will also hold broadcast rights for Formula 1 across Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, reinforcing its status as the sport’s primary digital home across the Indian subcontinent. F1 TV Pro and F1 TV Premium will, however, continue to be sold directly by Formula 1 in these markets.
The upcoming season, which begins on 5 March in Melbourne, is expected to be a landmark one for the sport. The grid will expand to 22 cars with the debut of the Cadillac F1 team, while Audi is set to complete its takeover of the Sauber F1 outfit. Alongside these changes, new regulations including lighter cars, sustainable fuels and the introduction of active aerodynamics signal the start of one of Formula 1’s most transformative eras. The season will also feature Arvid Lindbladt, a driver of Indian heritage, who has signed with Racing Bulls.
FanCode co-founder Yannick Colaco said, “We are delighted to renew our partnership with Formula 1 for three more years. This expanded deal firmly establishes FanCode as the home of all things F1 in India, and we’re excited to keep serving one of the country’s most passionate and fastest-growing sports communities. Fans have shown tremendous trust in our platform, and we will continue to deliver on their expectations, whether through livestreams, enhanced features or curated F1 community experiences.”
Formula 1 chief media rights and broadcasting officer Ian Holmes added, “We are delighted to be beginning our next chapter with FanCode after a successful start to our partnership in 2024. FanCode has elevated our broadcast for our passionate Indian audience to ensure they are able to feel the adrenaline and excitement of a race weekend from the comfort of their homes. We look forward to continuing working closely with FanCode and finding new, innovative ways to engage our fanbase in India and its subcontinent.”
