FIFA has announced the introduction of a $60 “Supporter Entry Tier” for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a move aimed at improving accessibility for loyal fans following criticism over high ticket prices and the use of dynamic pricing models.
On Tuesday, FIFA confirmed that the new $60 tier will be available for all 104 matches of the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tickets will be distributed through Participating Member Associations and made available to fans who have demonstrated consistent support for their national teams, according to Goal.com.
Under FIFA’s ticket allocation framework, 50 per cent of tickets assigned to each national federation are designated as affordable options. This includes 40 per cent allocated to the Supporter Value Tier and 10 per cent reserved for the newly introduced Supporter Entry Tier. The remaining tickets are evenly divided between the Supporter Standard and Supporter Premier tiers, providing a broader range of pricing options.
The introduction of the Supporter Entry Tier follows backlash against FIFA’s initial ticketing plans, which drew criticism for high prices ranging from $120 to $265 for group-stage matches as well as concerns around dynamic pricing, additional fees and refund policies.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to kick off on 11 June, with Mexico set to face South Africa in the opening Group A match at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The United States, Mexico and Canada will jointly host the tournament.
The upcoming edition will also mark a significant change in the competition format, with the World Cup expanding to 48 teams for the first time. The teams will be divided into 12 groups of four, with the top two sides from each group and the eight best third-placed teams progressing to the round of 32.
