MUMBAI: Star-India owned OTT platform, Hotstar has introduced a new subscription pack ahead of the IPL 2019 called ‘Hotstar VIP’ which will provide its users with the best of content from the world of sports and entertainment worth Rs 365 per year.
Sporting events will include live and non-live content from the likes of the IPL, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the Premier League, cricket matches in India, ISL, PKL and so on.
To reward its loyal users who have an existing subscription of Rs 299 per year for all sporting events, it has already upgraded it with ‘Hotstar VIP’ on a complementary basis.
Hotstar chief product officer Varun Narang stated: “It is our endeavour at Hotstar to delight customers with content that they resonate with, at the same time give them the power of choice at an affordable cost. Hotstar VIP is aimed at providing users accessibility – be it with the introductory price or the ability to watch exclusive new shows in multiple regional languages. It is a value proposition built with the Indian audience at the heart of it.”
‘Hotstar VIP’ has its USP lying in ‘Hotstar Specials’ under which the most passionate and skilled storytellers in India bring authentic and original web series content to millions of people in India. One of these will include ‘Roar of a Lion’ which will be directed by Kabir Khan and features the Chennai Super Kings’ success story from the IPL 2018, including anecdotes from the likes of captain MS Dhoni.
In a unique move, Hotstar has activated the ‘cash on delivery’ option for customers as an additional mode of payment. On a test basis, users can pay up for their subscription by cash within 48-72 hours of registering for the pack.
The development comes on the lines of Star India having introduced a special Rs 49 pack for people to access all its sports and entertainment channels on television.
