HSBC HAS STRENGTHENED its presence in global sports sponsorship by becoming the Presenting Partner of the China Open, one of Asia’s premier tennis tournaments. The long-term agreement, which begins with the 2026 edition, adds another marquee property to the global banking group’s expanding sports portfolio and reinforces its commitment to both the Chinese market and international tennis.
Under the agreement, HSBC will serve as a leading commercial partner of the combined ATP 500 and WTA 1000 event, China’s flagship professional tennis tournament. While financial details of the partnership were not disclosed, the deal is expected to enhance the tournament’s commercial appeal and support its ambition of becoming Asia’s leading tennis event.
For HSBC, the partnership represents another strategic investment in sport as the bank continues to use premium sporting properties to enhance brand visibility and engage high-value customer segments. The China Open joins an increasingly diverse sponsorship portfolio that includes LIV Golf, India’s Rugby Premier League, partnerships with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) in India and Singapore, and endorsement agreements with athletes including Virat Kohli, Emma Raducanu and Zhou Guanyu. The addition also deepens HSBC’s long-standing association with tennis, complementing its existing sponsorships such as Wimbledon and other major international events.
The announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of the China Open, which has embarked on a long-term growth strategy aimed at strengthening its position on the global tennis calendar and further establishing Beijing as a major international sporting destination. The 2026 tournament is scheduled to run from September 13 to October 11 and will feature ATP, WTA, ITF Junior and ITF Masters competitions.
