ICC suspends Cricket Canada but preserves team participation rights

The ICC has suspended Cricket Canada with immediate effect for breaches of its membership obligations.

Despite the suspension, Canada’s national teams will remain eligible to participate in ICC events, with funding provided through a controlled mechanism. The decision comes weeks after the ICC’s anti-corruption unit launched an investigation following allegations of governance issues, match manipulation, and threats of violence involving players and officials.

ICC commented, “The progress against these conditions will be monitored by the ICC normalisation committee, supported by ICC management, with reinstatement ‌of membership subject to the board being satisfied that the conditions have been fully met.”

Cricket Canada must meet a series of governance and administrative conditions, monitored by an ICC normalisation committee, before its membership can be reinstated.
