IFFI to showcase 6 sports-centric films

PANJIM, Goa: Six Indian sports biopics will have open air screenings at the the upcoming 49th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The festival, to be held here from November 20 to 28, will give a hat-tip to the Khelo India initiative this year by recognising the contribution of Indian sportspersons.

This sports section of the festival features a total of six Indian sports biopics – Gold, Soorma, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, 1983, MSD: The Untold Story and Mary Kom.

Members from the film fraternity including Akshay Kumar, Chitrangada Singh, Reema Kagti and Rakesh Omprakash Mehra will attend the gala to present their sports-centric films.

Apart from this, the festival will showcase 212 films from over 68 countries. Israel will be the country of focus at the gala, where there will be a retrospective section of Ingmar Bergman, marking 100 years of the filmmaker’s birth.

IFFI will be held in Goa from November 20-28.

The biopics will be screened at Jogger’s Park in Altinho, Panjim and will be open for public. This is a non-ticketed event.
