INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT (IIM) Mumbai, in partnership with the International Institute of Sports & Management, has introduced a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management (PGDSM), a one-year programme designed to develop industry-ready professionals for India’s sports ecosystem.
Aimed at working professionals, aspiring sports executives, entrepreneurs and former athletes, the course blends foundational management education with specialised insight into the sports industry. The curriculum spans sports marketing, league and event management, sponsorship, governance, analytics, media, finance, operations and infrastructure development.
Delivered over 12 months in a blended format, the programme combines weekend online sessions with four compulsory campus immersion modules at IIM Mumbai. According to the official release, participants will engage in live case studies, industry-led projects, business simulations, expert mentorship and practical exposure to real-world challenges across the sports sector.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60 per cent marks and have appeared for CAT, GMAT, GRE or IMAT. Exceptional sportspersons and coaches may be considered for eligibility exemptions. The application deadline is 15 March, with the IMAT examination scheduled for 22 March. Classes are set to commence on 6 April. The programme fee is Rs 8.5 lakh, plus applicable taxes.
