THE INSPIRE INSTITUTE OF SPORT (IIS) has entered into a strategic partnership with global commodities firm M Resources to strengthen its Squash Excellence Programme, a high-performance initiative aimed at preparing India’s top squash talent for the sport’s debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The collaboration comes at a crucial time for Indian squash, which is witnessing a steady rise on the global stage. The IIS programme, launched in 2023, is designed to build a structured pipeline of athletes through world-class coaching, sports science integration and increased international exposure, a media release said.
Founded by JSW Sports, IIS has been expanding its support across emerging Olympic disciplines, and the squash initiative reflects its ambition to contribute meaningfully to India’s Olympic medal prospects.
Parth Jindal, Founder of JSW Sports and IIS, said the partnership would significantly enhance the programme’s scale and impact. “This has been a breakthrough year for Indian squash,” he noted, highlighting the emergence of players such as Anahat Singh and a strong cohort of men’s players including Abhay Singh, Veer Chotrani, Ramit Tandon and Velavan Senthilkumar.
He added that M Resources’ support would enable IIS to expand athlete backing and host larger international tournaments in India, with a clear goal of competing for Olympic medals.
The IIS Squash Excellence Programme currently supports around 20 athletes across three tiers — Elite, Performance and Development squads — offering a non-residential training structure that combines coaching with holistic athlete development.
Manisha Malhotra, President of IIS, said the partnership aligns with a long-standing vision for the sport. “Squash has been knocking on the Olympic door for many years, and its inclusion in LA 2028 makes this an exciting moment. India has a rich heritage in squash, and our aim is to build athletes capable of competing at the highest level,” she said.
Under the partnership, athletes will gain access to internationally reputed coaches, advanced sports science testing and comprehensive support services including strength and conditioning, nutrition, physiotherapy and mental training. The programme will also facilitate participation in Professional Squash Association (PSA) events, training camps and competitive simulations.
Matt Lattimore, Founder and President of M Resources, said the company was keen to support Indian squash at a pivotal juncture. “IIS has created a world-class high-performance ecosystem. We believe this programme can nurture athletes who will succeed on the Olympic stage in 2028 and beyond,” he said.
Headquartered in Brisbane, M Resources operates across global commodities markets with a strong presence in steel-making raw materials and mining services.
The partnership further reinforces IIS’ positioning as a global high-performance hub, attracting international investment into Indian sport and strengthening the country’s Olympic ambitions in the lead-up to 2028.
