NEW DELHI: NBA India announced on Friday that the event, Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Asia 2018 will be hosted in New Delhi at its academy, according to a PTI report.
The NBA Academy India will be conducting the NBA and FIBA’s global basketball development and community outreach program from May 30-June 2, marking the second instance of the event taking place in the country.
The concept of the event is that the best male and female players in the Under-17 category across the Asia-Pacific region will come together to be mentored by NBA and FIBA players, legends and coaches and to compete against each other to showcase the brightest talents for the highest level in the future.
The NBA and the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) also announced that from May 27-29, the NBA academy will be conducting a basketball development camp as part of The NBA Academies Women’s Program. Under this, 20-25 top female players in the U-17 category can participate which will be determined by the academy. It is reported that 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist and Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame member Jennifer Azzi and two-time WNBA Champion Ruth Riley will be among the accomplished names in the sport, who will be mentoring the players.
