HANUMANTULA JEEVAN RAO, a research scientist in aerospace engineering at Nazarbayev University, has been unanimously elected as the honorary president of the Republican Public Association – Kazakhstan Kabaddi Federation, an appointment aimed at deepening sporting and cultural ties between India and Kazakhstan.
The decision was taken at the Federation’s Extraordinary General Meeting held in July in Astana, according to a press release.
The Kazakhstan Kabaddi Federation recognised Rao’s contributions to the development and promotion of sport, particularly his efforts in popularising Kabaddi across Central Asia. The Federation has set its sights on expanding the reach of Kabaddi through training initiatives, competitions, and exchange programmes.
Upon his appointment, Rao expressed his commitment to strengthening India–Kazakhstan relations through sport, while promoting Kabaddi as a discipline that unites communities and inspires young people.
Rao will collaborate with Sergey Tsyrulnikov, a Goodwill Ambassador of Kazakhstan, multiple Guinness World Records holder, and an official ambassador of the country’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the release added.
