Indian Sports Honours 2019 put off after Kashmir terror attack

MUMBAI: Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli announced on his official Twitter handle late on Friday that in the wake of the ghastly terror attacks in the outskirts of Srinagar in Kashmir, the annual Indian Sports Honours (ISH) event has been cancelled.

Kohli’s tweet read: “The RP-SG Indian Sports Honours has been postponed. At this heavy moment of loss that we all find ourselves in, we would like to cancel this event that was scheduled to take place tomorrow.

“The who’s who of entertainment and sports industry were supposed to be present for the award ceremony. every partner and all the sport-stars and delegates associated with this award have been informed and communicated with stating that hosting an event was unacceptable at this moment when India is mourning the death of its jawans.”

The event was supposed to take place on Saturday in Mumbai, which was to be organized by the Virat Kohli Foundation, Sanjiv Goenka’s RPS Group and Cornerstone Sport and Entertainment.
