MUMBAI: After months of keeping industry stakeholders on tenterhooks, the BCCI will finally float tenders for the 2023-2027 media rights cycle of the Indian Premier League in the coming week and complete the e-auction in two months, board secretary Jay Shah has said.
Media rights for the IPL will capture value worthy of the league’s rapid rise, especially after the addition of two new teams and strong digital growth, Shah told Reuters.
Shah added that the board had studied various models and proposals, amid expectations that separate TV and digital bids would be considered.
That would mean a digital only bid from the likes of Amazon Prime is a distinct possibility.
This is the second time the BCCI will conduct an e-auction to sell IPL media rights.
The 2022 season of the 10-team IPL will begin play in the last week of March.
