IPL reveals new logo with title sponsor Dream11

MUMBAI: After awarding fantasy gaming platform Dream11 title sponsorship rights for Indian Premier League 2020, the BCCI has unveiled the new logo for IPL 2020.

This should hopefully also put a lid on all the “uber patriotism static” floating around the award of the rights to Dream11, over the fact that Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd is a major stakeholder in the Indian fantasy gaming major.

Dream11 won the rights with a winning bid of Rs 2.22 billion, at a nearly 50% discount on the Rs 4.4 billion that incumbent title sponsor Vivo had been paying before calling time on its “poisoned challice” association.

The new Dream11 IPL 2020 logo was first revealed on the official Instagram handle of the IPL under the hashtag #Dream11IPL, which asked fans for their opinions.

With the league set to kick off in the UAE on September 19, the new logo was also shared by Mumbai Indians on its Instagram handle. The IPL defending champions open their campaign on September 19 against last year’s runners-up Chennai Super Kings.
