ISL opener gets Star Sports 25 mn total impressions

MUMBAI: The opening match of the Indian Super League season four between Kerala Blasters FC and ATK fetched Star Sports 25 million total TV impressions. The number indicates 59 per cent growth over last season’s opening game, says the broadcaster.

The opening game recorded 7.4 million average impressions. This number is double that of the India vs USA game at the recently concluded Under-17 FIFA World Cup 2017, hosted for the first time by India.

Star India MD Sanjay Gupta has said in an official statement that he believes this could be the biggest ever season of the Indian Super League. “We are thrilled with the response that The Hero Indian Super League is getting from football fans across India. The growth demonstrated is across urban, rural and digital audiences which indeed proves that Future Hai Football! We are looking forward to having an exhilarating journey on this biggest ever season of the league,” he said.

A total of 95 matches will be played in the 2017-18 season between 10 teams.
