JBC Kabaddi League sanctioned for Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh

KABADDI ASSOCIATION of Jharkhand, Bihar State Kabaddi Association and Chhattisgarh Kabaddi Association, all affiliated with the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, have sanctioned a new state-level tournament titled the JBC Kabaddi League.

An acronym for the Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh Kabaddi League, the competition is slated to be held in the first half of 2026. The inaugural edition will feature five teams representing the three participating states.

Structured as a professional league, the JBC Kabaddi League aims to provide emerging players with meaningful exposure through a formal scouting system, player auction and competitive league format. The organisers believe the initiative will not only enhance fan engagement but also contribute to strengthening the regional infrastructure necessary for the growth of India’s kabaddi ecosystem.

The league is jointly promoted by sports entrepreneur Rannvijay Singh, who also serves as director of the Bhojpuri Industry Premier League and is the franchise owner of Awadh Ramdoots in the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League.

To further drive grassroots participation, the JBC Kabaddi League has appointed Randhir Singh Sehrawat as its brand ambassador. Popularly known as “Coach Saab”, Sehrawat has dedicated over four decades to Indian kabaddi as both a player and a national-level coach. A recipient of the Arjuna Award in 1997 and the National Citizen Award in 1991 becoming the first kabaddi player to receive the latter, he has secured 93 medals across major competitions, including the Senior Nationals, Federation Cups and the All India Railway Championships.

Singh said, “State and local leagues are key growth pathways. Jharkhand, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh share a deep connection with kabaddi, played widely in schools and community spaces. The JBC Kabaddi League builds on this legacy by creating a structured platform that connects grassroots talent to the professional ecosystem. With the strong support of the state Kabaddi Associations, we are confident in our vision to make kabaddi mainstream and a viable career choice.”
