JIOSTAR has unveiled its campaign for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup India & Sri Lanka 2026, casting the tournament not as a conventional title defence for India, but as a defining challenge against history itself.
Fronted by captain Rohit Sharma, the campaign film is built around a bold central idea: India’s greatest opponent in 2026 is not another team, but history. Aptly titled “History Repeat Karenge. History Defeat Karenge.”
The narrative is rooted in a series of unprecedented possibilities. No team has ever successfully defended an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title. No host nation has lifted the trophy on home soil. No country has won the tournament three times. As defending champions and the world’s top-ranked T20I side, India have the opportunity to rewrite all three records. The campaign is conceptualised by JioStar’s in-house creative team.
India will open their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against the USA in Mumbai on 7 February, before facing Namibia on 12 February, Pakistan on 15 February and the Netherlands on 18 February. The tournament will run from 7 February to 8 March, with all matches broadcast live on JioHotstar and the Star Sports Network.
JioStar head – sports content Siddharth Sharma said, “This World Cup is unique because India isn’t just playing against a diverse array of nations; they are playing against decades of never-been-done-before. Our campaign captures the intent to overcome historic odds. It’s about the audacity to believe that while history is written about the past, it can be rewritten by the present.”
