MUMBAI: Rental car company Ola Cabs announced Monday on Twitter that it will team up with JSW Sports to launch their nationwide #RoadforGold campaign over 110 cities with Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy, the stars from the upcoming hockey-based movie ‘Gold’.
In a 39-second video on Youtube, both the actors can be seen explaining to users how they can contribute to the development of young sporting talent across India through the Ola app by donating Re 1 with every ride taken with the cab.
Ola is celebrating the 70th anniversary of India’s first post-Independence Gold medal win at the Olympics in England back in 1948. The proceeds collected will be used by JSW Sports to nurture youngsters to become world champions in their sport through state-of-the-art training, sport-science facilities and world class coaches at their academy in Bengaluru.
“The collected funds will be used to identify promising talent from India’s heartlands… These future sporting stars will also benefit from support and guidance from Indian sporting legends such as Sourav Ganguly, Mahesh Bhupathi, Abhinav Bindra and Yogeshwar Dutt, among others,” Ola stated.
“We are glad to partner with JSW Sports and Excel Entertainment (promoted by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani) who have been staunch supporters of sports in India through infrastructure and entertainment. Together, we share the dream to identify high calibre talent and turn them into medal winning performers,” Ola senior vice president Pallav Singh stated.
