TURIN: After the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid’s all-time highest goal scorer in Turin, Serie A giants Juventus have seen sales of official replica shirts increase by over 100% this summer.
The five-time Ballon d’Or joined the Old Lady in one of the summer’s most sensational transfers. And the effect of the Portugal ace can be felt beyond the pitch.
As per a report published in Bild, research conducted by Idealo magazine reveal that the official Juventus shop sold as many replica shirts in July and August as they did in the whole of 2017.
The Serie A champions have also recorded an increase in sales by over 145%. In August, the club saw sales within the European Union increase by 145.5% compared to the same month last year.
Juventus have also earned an extra 3.5 million Instagram followers in July alone and in the process became the fourth most followed football club in the world on the social media platform following Ronaldo’s arrival in Italy.
Even as Ronaldo is leading Juventus to huge commercial success, the former Real Madrid star opened his account on the goal scoring charts for his new club with a brace in Sunday’s fourth Serie A game of the season, against Sassuolo in Turin.
