FC Barcelona’s (FCB) new No.10, Lamine Yamal is shattering sales records for the LaLiga giants.
According to Diario AS, in the wake of Lamine’s being handed the No. 10 shirt last week, nearly 70,000 shirts were sold in just two days, generating an estimated revenue of close to €10 million.
The Yamal No. 10 shirt has become the best-selling product in a single day in the history of Barça’s official stores. Some outlets came close to selling out, but the club has assured fans that stocks remain available across all official retail points.
This marks a significant financial boost for the club as it continues its pursuit of financial stability.
A financial boost for the club no doubt. The fans however, will have to cough up big for the pleasure of owning an official Yamal shirt. The shirts are priced at the premium end: a child’s shirt costs an €114.99, the adult version is priced at €134.99, and the ‘match collection’ edition is on sale for €184.99.
Weighty number…
This is but the latest step in the La Masia starlet’s rise to the very top. By taking on a number of such symbolic weight in world football, more so at Barça, Lamine is once again showing that responsibility doesn’t faze him. He inherits the squad number left vacant since Ansu Fati moved to Monaco, ahead of an exciting season in which Barça defend their domestic treble of Liga, Copa and Supercopa titles.
