BANGLADESH FAST BOWLER Mustafizur Rahman has registered for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 Draft, weeks after being released by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and missing out on a Rs 9.2 crore IPL contract.
Rahman was let go by KKR following a directive from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as political tensions escalated between India and Bangladesh.
KKR and the BCCI faced significant backlash over the inclusion of the left-arm pacer amid reports of atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. In response, the BCCI asked the franchise to release the player, allowing KKR to sign a replacement.
Mustafizur now joins a growing list of high-profile cricketers who have chosen to focus on the PSL instead of the IPL. In Rahman’s case, however, the move comes after initially securing an IPL deal before being released.
Other notable players expected to feature in the PSL 2026 include Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis, while Glenn Maxwell is also rumoured to be considering a move.
