MUMBAI: NBA India Tuesday announced a multi-year partnership with one of the country’s leading textile companies, Suditi Industries with the launch of a new range of India-centric merchandise.
Moneycontrol had reported last November that Suditi had won the NBA licensing rights for the Indian market till 31 December 2023. The development had seen the company’s shares rise by 16% on the Bombay Stock Exchange the very same day.
“….signed agreement for commercial use of NBA’s logos, symbols, designations, emblems, colour, combinations, design and all such identifications, labels, insignia, indicia, or trade dress thereof, collectively called NBA marks of the National Basket Ball Association (NBA) USA and its member teams,” the apparel exporter’s statement had read.
“The company can manufacture apparels/garments as stated above and sell them in the domestic market (Indian Market) and the contract is valid up to December 31, 2023.”
The NBA India fanwear apparel will be available in top department stores across the country such as Shoppers Stop, Central, Lifestyle and Brand Factory. When it comes to online shopping, NBA has tied up with its Indian e-store partner Jabong as well as Myntra.
NBA India Associate VP of Global Partnerships Siddharth Chury stated: “As our fanbase continues to grow exponentially, we have also seen a rising demand for NBA merchandise beyond our core on-court products from Nike and Spalding.
“We are excited to partner with Suditi Industries, a leading expert in the licensing space, to expand the range of NBA products available to fans.”
Suditi Industries MD and chairman Pawan Agarwal added: “The NBA is one of the most prestigious sports organisations globally and it’s an exciting opportunity for us to partner with them and bring exclusive merchandise to fans in India.
“Our goal is to fully penetrate the Indian market and to make NBA fanwear apparel more widely available for fans across the country.”
