NielsenIQ (NIQ) has appointed Joe Ellis as the managing director for its India business. The statement comes a year after NIQ’s merger with GfK, creating the world’s largest consumer intelligence firm with investments in omnichannel coverage, business intelligence tools and predictive analytics.
Ellis is an accomplished industry leader and brings 25 years of experience at NIQ where he has held key regional and global leadership roles. He began his career at the Westport (USA) office and has successfully led various strategic initiatives worldwide.
Now based in Mumbai, Ellis is well-acquainted with India, having previously worked on two key assignments in the country. In 2004, he launched NIQ’s proprietary simulated test marketing division, BASES and in 2013, he drove the expansion and digitisation of NIQ’s retail measurement services.
“The pace of change in India is unprecedented. With a diverse economic base, a vast untapped consumer market, a significant demographic advantage, rapid digitisation, substantial FDI inflows and a deeply ingrained spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, India is an energizing and exciting market for us,” said Ellis.
He further added, “We have longstanding partnerships with many of the largest companies in India built over half a century. We continue to grow and evolve along with our clients. We are also proud of our talent, our capabilities, and my role is to ensure we stay a step ahead in helping our clients achieve their growth objectives with our world class suite of products and services.”
