NEW DELHI: With the Union government reportedly not responding to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s request to host a Pakistan women’s team for a Test series in November, as part of its ICC Championship obligations, the BCCI will likely have to forfeit points again.
It is pertinent to note that when the Indian women’s team refused to tour Pakistan in 2016 as government clearances were not forthcoming, it had resulted in them forfeiting points then as well.
The BCCI, as per sources close to the matter, has written to the Union government to obtain permission to host the Pakistani side but there has been no response thus far. This has purportedly led the BCCI to decide to excuse itself from the series, and will soon formally convey its decision to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Once the ICC receives the BCCI’s missive, it will take on board submissions from both the parties before taking a final decision.
