PCI unveils medals for ‘25 World Para Athletics C’ships

PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE OF INDIA (PCI) has unveiled the medals for the IndianOil New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships at Shangri-La Eros, New Delhi.

The front of the medal incorporates motifs inspired by traditional Indian art, centred around the championship’s name and Para athletics icons — a wheelchair racer, a discus thrower, and the lotus. The reverse side reflects inclusivity, featuring Braille above the “New Delhi 2025” inscription, a lotus-inspired pattern, and bold geometric detailing.

The unveiling also saw the launch of Udaan Bhar, a music track with rap elements produced by Polaris Production in association with PCI. The video features Indian Para athletes performing and competing, celebrating the resilience and inspiration that define Para sport.

The championships, scheduled from 27 September to 5 October, will welcome over 2,200 athletes and team officials from 104 countries, competing across 184 medal events.

PCI president Devendra Jhajharia said, “Unveiling these medals marks the beginning of a historic journey. They celebrate not just victory but the ethos of effort, inclusivity, and resilience. Hosting athletes from 104 countries, New Delhi is poised to deliver a world-class championships that inspires all”.

World Para Athletics head Paul Fitzgerald added, “We are thrilled to see the first major championships of the new Paralympic cycle towards Los Angeles 2028 being hosted in New Delhi. The 2025 World Para Athletics Championships will be the largest international para-sport event ever held in India.”
