The Premier League has appointed senior sports industry executive Hrishikesh Shende to a newly created position of managing director – India, for the world’s most valuable and popular football league.
Shende announced the development via his LinkedIn account, posting: “Delighted to be given the opportunity as Managing Director – India for The Premier League. I am looking forward to collaborating with colleagues and partners to continue to drive forward the League’s commitment to developing football in India, and strengthening relationships with clubs, partners, stakeholders and the millions of passionate fans ⚽ 🏆 🇬🇧 🤝 🇮🇳”
Shende joins the Premier League from JioHotstar, where he was SVP – Strategy, Acquisitions & Partnerships from March 2023 on. Before that he has had stints as COO of IPL team Lucknow Super Giants and Sports lead at RoundGlass.
Shende is best known in the industry, however, from his nearly nine years at sportswear giant adidas, where his last executive position was as business director Sports – Emerging Markets.
